The objective of this project was to create an online experience for individuals who are not yet PenFed members so they can open certificates of deposits online, thereby becoming PenFed members. My role was managing a team of UI, UX and Business strategists through planning and execution of design.

COMPETITIVE 

ANALYSIS

As part of discovery, we explored different financial institutions to examine different approaches to investing in a certificate of deposit. From this exercise we were able to identify key features that could be leveraged.

BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS

  • We want the ability for users to select the product, term and amount of a CD at the beginning of the application.

  • Inline funding of account.

  • Compare table of all CD Rates.

  • Ability for joint owner to input their personal information and verify their identity. 

  • Ability to allow the user to choose where their dividends go and where the balance goes at maturity.

  • Allow membership eligibility. 

  • Ability to allow the user to cancel with option to save information.

  • Ability for users to save and return partially filled out application.

  • Ability for users to open multiple CDs with a limit of 3 with same ownership.

  • We want ability to fund with ACH and debit cards.

  • We want electronic check routing number entry to auto show bank name.

The UX team, collaborating with developers and product owners, developed a flow for Certificate of Deposits and also integrated in the Membership Eligibility and the Online Account Flow.

After wireframe creation and multiple rounds of user-testing sessions, UI and visual design was conducted.
